Step 1. Bend Hook against your thumbnail 3 hook eyes distance from the eye as shown. Bend hook until point touches your thumbnail.

Step 2. Start thread where the hook was bent with thumbnail. Tie in a dozen Z-lon fibers. Wrap thread to the bend of the hook. Z-lon will be trimmed later

Step 3. Take thread back to the starting point. Tie in 2 Olive and 2 Black Krystal Flash.  Wrap thread to the bend of the hook. Build taper with thread if desired.

 

 

 

Step 4. Place Krystal Flash into Dubbit tool. Spin tightly into a krystal flash rope. Wrap rope forward to the starting point. Secure rope with several wraps and trim excess.

Step 5. Tie in Para Post Wing. Post should be tied up the post as far as shown or the following steps will not work.

Step6. Tie in 4 peacock herls behind the eye and wrap to the start of the body.  Note thread should be remain behind the post.

 

 

 

Step 7. Place peacock into Dubbit tool and spin into a rope. Wrap rope forward to fill in area behind post. Thread should be hanging at the back of the post. Continue wrapping rope around thread in front of post. Bring rope up along side the post on the tyers side. Tie off the rope on the post as shown. Tie in a hackle by the butt at the top of the thread part of the post. Bring thread down under the hackle and leave hanging at the bottom of the post.

 Step 8. Wrap hackle clockwise around post, starting at the top and wrapping down to the base of the post. Tie of hackle with 3 or 4 tight wraps on the post. Whip finish off on the post. Trim shuck and post to body length, 

I tie a PMD by using Yellow and Copper Krystal Flash, rust Z-lon, and Whiting PMD dyed saddle hackle.

I often trail a Krystal emerger about 20 inches off the bend of the hook, if I want the emerger in the film I use one that has a glass bead. If I want it to sink just under I use one with a metal bead. If I want to be 6 to 12 inches under I use one with a tungsten bead. I tie several variations of the Klinkhammer style. The BWO Krystal Flash is by far the most productive when there is BWO activity and the same goes for the PMD..
